Welcome to Antelope Racing Team's Web site. The club is one of the south's most successful Cycle Racing Teams. We participate in all aspects of cycle racing, including time trials, cyclo cross, track and road.. Founded in 1977 by Glenn Longland and funded by a generous donation by long time family friend Vic Jackson, who became the club president. The club originally consisted of just six members in its first year. Only Glenn and long-term tandem partner, Nev Stroud remain from the orignal lineup, which boasted Martin Springer (National Junior Cyclo Cross Champ), Dave Doust (National Junior 25 Champ) and Martin Whitmarsh (now a Director of McLaren Formula 1 Racing). The club has boasted many members of note, both male and female over the years. Of the the men John Woodburn, Clive Brooks, Terry Icke, Chris Ball, Jeremy Short, Pete Pickers, Alan Dawson, Richard Grace, Daron Perkins and Mark Pearce spring to mind. The Ladies members have seen Leigh Lamont and Marina Bloom. The club has had National Championship honours at 10,25,50,100 miles, 12 and 24 hours as well as Junior, ladies, mens and Team BBAR champions. A number of RTTC and BCF Competition records have been held, and numerous RRA place to place records on bicycle, tricycle and tandem tricycle. Perhaps the the clubs greatest honour came when Glenn Longland became the first rider in history to break the elusive 300 mile barrier in 12 hours. Long term sponsor Mike Radford of Radford Accountants stepped down as the club's official sponsor in 2000 and for several years the club then received financial help from Ron Strudwick of RS Holdings and Hugh Radford of Ambient Energy Systems.
